Laguna Phuket International Marathon™ 2010

The 5th Laguna Phuket International Marathon™ will take place on Sunday, 13 June 2010. The fourth event was another great success with more than 4,000 participants. In 2010, some 5,000 runners and walkers are expected to join the race with start and finish at Laguna Phuket.

Location: Phuket, Thailand

Start & Finish: Laguna Phuket Resort

Course:
The marathon course is an out and back course with a loop for the last 7 km. The course is flat for the first 11 km with some rolling hills between Km 11 and Km 15 and again between Km 23 and Km 28 and Km 35 and Km 37. The half marathon follows the marathon course and turns at Km 9 of the marathon course. It then follows the marathon course back to the finish line. The course is flat except for some rolling hills between KM 14 and 16.

The 10.5 Km Run and 5 Km Walk are flat loop courses looping around Laguna Phuket. See Course Map Here.

Along the Race Course

Water Stations:
There will be a water station every 1.5 - 2 Km along the course with each of them providing fruits, water in cups and bottled water. From Km 12.5 onwards electrolytes (Gatorade) will be provided to all runners.

Toilets:
Mobile toilets will be stationed along the course not more than 5 Km apart. For exact locations please refer to the course map.

Kilometer Markers:
All races will have kilometer markers every 1 Km.

Medical Aid:
Medical services will be provided along the course. Ambulances will be located at strategic points with easy access. Runners are advised to carry their own specific prescribed medicines, if necessary.

YOU MUST STOP RUNNING THE RACE IMMEDIATELY IF ORDERED TO DO SO BY A MEMBER OF THE OFFICIAL MEDICAL STAFF - this is in the interest of your health and safety

Traffic:
The course leads through a quiet area of Phuket. Police and security guards will control traffic along the route. Although organizers endeavor a traffic free course runners may encounter some light vehicular traffic at some parts of the course.

Timing:
Official timer is ChampionChip® which will time all runners for the 3 main races at the Start and Finish line and check points at 10, 21, and 31 Km. Digital clocks will also be available at Start and Finish gate.

Awards:

  • Trophies for top 3 of every age group and for overall winners in the marathon and half marathon
  • Trophies for top 5 of every age group and for overall winners in the 10.5 km run

Medals:
Every finisher will receive a commemorative medal.
